About..

Overview

Wits End Stables is situated in Broomhall, Worcester, between Kempsey and Norton. It is run by Gail Shaw, an Instructor on the British Horse Society Register, who has 22 years teaching experience, ranging from beginners through to career students. Adults and children 8 yrs and over at all levels are catered for. Lessons and hacks are available Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and all day Saturday.  We are now open until 1pm on Sunday mornings, but we are CLOSED on Wednesdays.

Who we are

The emphasis is on ‘small, but quality’. Keeping a small number of well chosen horses and ponies, in an orderly and well managed yard, set in a clean enclosed 3½ acre site overlooking the Malverns, with Stonehall and Kempsey Common accessible, sets the enviable scene for learning to ride, or progressing your knowledge in a safe and friendly environment. Whilst the stables cannot boast a hoard of facilities, all the essentials are in place including a good size, floodlit, all-weather ménage and reception/lecture room, and high standards are maintained. As a result of size keeping overheads low, the tuition costs are affordable, without quality or safety being compromised.

Gail takes great pride in every clients progress. Within small classes, safety is kept the priority, but Gail endeavours to make the learning
process fun and challenging to help each client achieve their personal goals. As well as BHS qualifications, Gail also has a National Coaching Foundation Sports coach qualification, plus a Diploma in Education, which studies teaching and learning techniques. Building confidence is the key to success.

Free training, funded by Hereford College of Technology, is available in some instances, with only the administration fee to pay. Training is also offered for NVQ, BHS and National Certificate qualifications. School Leavers and mature students are welcome. We offer a flexible learning programme, with horse care funded by Hereford College of Technology.
